PARTICIPATE IN 2ND FRIDAY
2nd Friday Norman Art Walk is a one day event held the 2nd calendar Friday of each month. The event is free and open to the public with crowd expectations over 2,500. It’s a great opportunity to showcase your work to new potential customers and supporters.
FOR BUSINESSES OR ORGANIZATIONS:
We are happy to have any business or organization within the footprint of 2nd Friday Norman Art Walk participate. It doesn’t cost a penny to have your event listed in our 2nd Friday promo materials. To have your featured artist, concert, performance or other arts event listed in our listing, guide and poster, please email Cher Duncan at email@example.com with all the pertinent information and a high-res image if available. To request to be added to our monthly 2nd Friday Norman Art Walk Submission Call and Reminder, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Participating in 2nd Friday Norman Art Walks and being listed in any and all marketing materials is totally free. We ask that to be listed, events be free, arts-related and open to the public … and preferably awesome (we’re sure it’s awesome!).
FOR FOOD TRUCKS:
Please contact TOLY Food Truck Park at email@example.com if you are interested in serving food at a 2nd Friday Norman Art Walk!
FOR STREET PERFORMERS:
Add to the festivities and entertain the art walk crowds! Street performers are permitted to set up on Main Street sidewalks at limited locations for a fee of $20 and completion of the Street Performer Application. All performers must apply for a permit through NAC, who will assign locations (location preference may be requested, and brick & mortar businesses may coordinate with NAC to facilitate performances outside their businesses) and reserves the right to refuse any application.
Get your work seen by thousands of 2nd Friday patrons! There are two ways of doing this. 1). Coordinate with a local shop/gallery/studio to feature your work on their walls. Almost all 2nd Friday participating businesses are on the look out for new talent to feature in their location, and we ask that you contact the business that you feel is the best match with your work directly (2nd Friday doesn’t book artists for venues but rather markets the collective efforts from individual businesses as a whole). 2). You can set up in our designated vendor area, which you can read more about below:
FOR OUTDOOR VENDORS/ARTISTS:
Join us at the new Arts Vendor Area! Located near The Depot, the closed-to-traffic Jones Street and the nearby Legacy Trail area will be available to vendors who are classified as an artist, artisan or local maker on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is a vendor fee of $30 due with the submission of the Vendor Application, and applications are due by the last Friday of the month prior to the next 2nd Friday. Those who miss the deadline can submit a Late Vendor Application for $100.
NAC must approve of all vendors, and those not meeting the criteria of being a local artist/maker will not be approved, and 70% of what is sold must be handmade. NAC reserves the right to refuse any Vendor Application.
Vendors are not permitted to setup outside of the designated vendor area.
2nd Friday Norman Art Walk is a rain-or-shine event, and vendor fee are only refundable in the event that Art Walk is cancelled by the threat of severe weather.
Frequently Asked VENDOR Questions:
Exactly who does this include?
All outside vendors who set up in the designated Arts Vendor Area and are selling handmade goods, unless they have already gone through the Solicitor’s/Peddler’s permit process with the City of Norman.
Does this apply to anyone who has a brick and mortar location or anyone who sets up inside a brick and mortar location?
No. This only applies to those setting up outdoors.
Where do I setup?
Vendors can setup in the designated Arts Vendor Area, which includes the closed-to-traffic Jones Street and the grassy area adjacent, near the tracks/Depot.
Why do we have to do this?
The City of Norman requires the Norman Arts Council to have a special event permit for 2nd Fridays. As part of the permit, the Norman Arts Council is required to collect permit fees and sales tax numbers for all vendors and report that to the City of Norman. To keep 2nd Friday Norman Art Walks safe for all patrons and walkways clear as attendance has grown, The City of Norman and Norman Arts Council agreed to restrict vendors to the designated Arts Vendor Area and off the sidewalks.
How do I know if I'm accepted?
Upon submission of application and fee, NAC will review your application and respond within 3 business days after the deadline. Any rejected applications will be refunded their application fee.
